We will review the evolution of methods for analysis of DNA content by flow Cytometry.
The development and use of propidium iodide/hypotonic citrate method for rapid analysis of DNA content was used for analysis of cell cycle position and aneuupllidy in human tumors and for following of bone marrow regeneration in cancer patients on high dose chemotherapy protocols.
Subsequently, we used this rapid method for analysis of DNA content in plants and animals from the Miami Zoo. To diagonse the possible histological origin of suspicious cancer cells in body cavity fluids, we combined the PI/hypotonic citrate method with marker expression for multiparametric flow analysis.
The instructor used technology effectively
Participants will be able to address preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic troubleshooting issues along with ways to prevent problems before they arise
participants will be presented with cases to troubleshoot. With this in hand they will be able to recognize the problem if it arises and will know where to look for solutions
